Levan team leaves Peckham for a 1630s Covent Garden townhouse

Cassette takes 42 Maiden Lane, a Grade II listed building, as the group behind Levan and Bar Levan moves west.
Cassette is opening at 42 Maiden Lane in Covent Garden in late September.
The building is Grade II listed and dates from the 1630s, which places real constraints on what a restaurant can change inside it.
The move is a relocation rather than an expansion. The team behind Levan and Bar Levan are leaving Peckham, where both had operated, for the West End — a notable shift given how much of London's restaurant energy over the past decade has run in the opposite direction.
The menu is French. Reported dishes include a coq-au-vin jaune pie and grilled monkfish au poivre.
Accounts of who is cooking differ slightly: Hot Dinners attributes it to the Levan team, while Time Out names former Planque chef Essa Fakhry.
